Teammate Support Program

Our Teammate Support Program assists campers who may require additional support during their stay at camp, so they can fully enjoy camp programming to the best of their abilities.

Teammate Program

Teammate Support Staff

Staff will be available to assist with the specific needs of the camper as well as provide the necessary support to others (i.e counsellor, activity instructor, etc) who are working directly with a Teammate camper throughout the day.

Level of Support

The level of support offered within our Teammate Support Program varies depending on the needs of the camper participating. We recognize that we cannot support every camper's needs, but it is our goal to provide assistance to ensure a positive camp experience, regardless of needs or abilities.

Together with the completion of our Teammate Support Program Needs Assessment Application and discussions with parents/guardians, it will be determined if HOC is the right fit for your child and the level of support needed while at camp. See below for Level of Support Guidelines.

Levels of Support Support Guidelines
Level 2 - Medium Support

Campers will maintain a level of independence throughout the majority of the day/programming and be supervised based on their group's camper/staff ratio.

At specific times and when deemed necessary based on the needs of the camper, Teammate Staff will supervise and assist the camper during specific programming/activities.

During overnight, the camper will sleep in age-appropriate gender-specific cabins and be supervised by their cabin counsellor.

Level 1 - Minimal Support

Staff will review the needs of the camper and work to educate and support the counsellor and/or activity instructor on the specific needs, modifications and accommodations required by the camper.

Campers will maintain a full level of independence throughout the day/programming and be supervised based on their group's camper/staff ratio.

Teammate Staff will be available to periodically check in with the camper throughout the day as well as be available to support staff who are working with the camper.

During overnight, the camper will sleep in age-appropriate gender-specific cabins and be supervised by their cabin counsellor.

Benefits of our Teammate Support Program

Inclusion in our camp community is one of our top priorities. Our Teammate Support Program not only enriches the camp programming we offer, it also supports a positive and inclusive camp experience for all.

Each camper will have a tailored plan to meet their individual needs. Some of our inclusion strategies may include; implementing specific teaching/learning strategies. equipment modification, modified programming outside of the group (including quiet time/space away), and individual daily check-ins.

Teammate Support Program Registration

Due to limited availability in the program per week, parents/guardians will be required to complete an Intake Interview via Google Meet before enrollment is confirmed. An Intake Interview will be assessed by the Directing team to ensure that the Teammate Program is the right fit for your child. After review, we will be in contact regarding your camper's registration. All teammate campers will be required to submit a Needs Assessment Form before they arrive at HOC.
