Job Title: Media & Marketing Assistant

The intent of this position is to support the Camp Photographer & Videographer with their daily schedules but also to enhance our social media presence and advertise and market HOC through quality media sources. This role would require someone to work independently but alongside the Camp Photographer and Videographer, with minimal supervision. After creating a marketing plan and schedule for implementation, this person would help to manage the plan and ensure that adequate quality content is captured and pieced together for professional use. 

The daily routine would be to work through a set schedule including posting daily camper photos to Bunk1; updating social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, and Youtube); and organizing promotional material for summer and off-season marketing purposes. 

This role requires someone with a background in media and marketing, who is able to use their creativity and skill set to enhance HOC's media presence and enforce a strategy to showcase each camp week to our campers, staff, and parents. Candidates must also understand our social media expectations and ensure that the image of HOC is properly being reflected in daily/weekly online posts. In addition to being able to capture photo & video content, interested candidates must have experience using Macintosh computers, Google Applications, iMovie, Photoshop and CMS Website applications. 

This person would not work directly with children but would need to possess an interest in working with children.

In addition to responsibilities during the day, this role would require evening responsibilities as well. The Media & Marketing Assistant would be required to work evening activities, all camp activities, and various other events capturing photo/video content.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that video/photos taken are in line with the standards set by Hockey Opportunity Camp.
  • Provide care to our campers that reflect the standards and guidelines of the Hockey Opportunity Camp's Child Care Practices.
  • Create and execute your job in a productive, professional and fun manner.
  • Be an active participant in the camp community.
  • Sign and abide by Hockey Opportunity Camp’s Privacy Policy.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend Staff Orientation week in late June.
  • Experience working in a Mac OSX / Google environment.
  • Be knowledgeable in all safety procedures: including fire, land and aquatic emergency procedures.
  • Manage and oversee a set schedule to assist in capturing marketing worthy media material.
  • Assist the Camp Photographer in uploading photographs daily to our Bunk1 photo viewing platform.
  • Assist the Camp Videographer in editing video content and piecing together to create social media/marketing content.
  • Organize/sort captured media into files for summer & off-season marketing purposes.
  • Work alongside the Camp Director to create summer content to post on Social Media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Youtube).
  • Assist the Camp Photographer in planning & creating a staff photo album/slideshow as a "Summer 2024" memento.

  • All staff are expected to abide by and enforce camp guidelines of respect. These are the rules and expectations of behaviour implemented to maintain a fun and safe camp environment.
  • Attendance for all staff to the June orientation week training is mandatory. This training period is where each staff will receive essential employment information and training for a successful summer experience.
  • Participation in camp-wide special events (Evening Programs, All Camp Activities, Campfires, and Friday Finale) and weekly meetings are an expectation of all staff members.
  • The dynamic nature of summer camp demands each staff understand that additional duties may be assigned as required.

Optional Employment: Week #9 August 24 – 30, 2025
Wages: Summer wages vary depending on age, qualifications, and experience of applicants. Room and board are included.


RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 19 years of age.
  • Genuine interest and experience in photography & videography.
  • Experience in designing marketing plans for social media, as well as capturing and editing media content.
  • Genuine interest in working at a residential camp.
  • Must be an outgoing, self-starter type person.
  • Valid G driver’s license.
  • Current certificate of Emergency First Aid and CPR.
  • Respect in Sport certification.
  • Must be an enthusiastic, energetic and positive person.
  • Must be willing to take part in camp related activities outside the defined job description.
  • Proficient with programs such as Mac OSX, Google Applications, Apple iMovie, Photoshop and CMS applications for editing photos and video.
