If you are considering HOC as a possibility for your child and would like the opportunity to meet the Directors and see the camp facilities you are welcome to come and tour the camp any time between May 1st – November 1st.
Before arriving at camp, for the summer, we recommend that you go through our online activity guide with your child. In combination with each of the specific camp programs offered, each camper will choose with their registration their top two activities that they would like to participate in daily while at camp. The guide will describe the activities, which age groups they are suitable for, clothing/gear required by camper and equipment provided by camp. All activity choices will be finalized once at camp, given your camper the opportunity to change their choice based on weather, scheduling conflicts, friend’s choices, instructors, etc.
All personal belongings, clothing and equipment should be clearly labeled with your child’s name. If you require labels, please contact Mabel Labels at www.hockey.mabel.ca
There are certain things that are not allowed at camp including cell phones, expensive electronic equipment and food products with nuts. We ask that you have a discussion with your child and make sure that he/she understands these rules before arriving at camp. HOC is not responsible for lost or stolen items brought to camp.
Although the following safety items will be discussed with campers upon arrival, we recommend that you talk about health and safety with your kids including, hand washing/sanitizing, sun and hydration protection, and what to do in the case of bullying or homesickness (stress open communication with counselors).
Make sure your child helps pack their gear and clothing so that he/she is aware of what is being brought and what they are expected to pack to bring back home. Most lost and found is not recognized by campers as there own. If bringing hockey equipment, ensure all items still fit correctly and that hockey skates are sharpened. For a complete packing list please, download the list off the complete 2012 Getting Ready for Camp Package.
