Number of Positions Available: 1 Head Dry Land Instructor, 1 Assistant Dry Land Instructor
The role of the Dry Land Instructor is one that demands hard work, creativity, group control and an enthusiastic attitude towards children. The Dry Land Instructor is required to follow a comprehensive teaching outline and ensure that all required components of the Dry Land program are taught during the course of the week. The Dry Land Instructor works directly with a Hockey Counsellor and a section of children. Dry land sessions are taught both indoors and outdoors, depending on the program and weather.

Employment Period: July 1st, 2012 – August 25th, 2012
WAGES:
Summer wages range from $2,600 – $4,000 per summer depending on qualifications and experience of applicants. Room and board is included.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Must have a strong hockey/physical fitness and educational background.
- Genuine interest in teaching hockey skills, fitness and recreation to children and teaching/instructing experience a definite requirement.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Current certificate of Emergency First Aid, and CPR.
- Must be enthusiastic, energetic and positive.
- Must be willing to take part in duties outside the defined job description.
GENERAL JOB RESPONSIBILITY:
- To provide Dry Land programming and instruction according to curriculum designed by the Hockey Director, under the direction of the Head Instructor.
- Provide supervision for campers at the arena before or after ice sessions
- Serve as role models both at the arena and at the camp, encouraging our campers to become better hockey players and individuals.
- As a member of our camp community assist with providing for the health and welfare of our campers.
- Abide by the established camp policies.
- Provide care to our campers that reflects the standards and guidelines of the Hockey Opportunity Camp Code of Conduct
- On a weekly basis, complete accurate and informative camper evaluations.
- Sign and abide by Hockey Opportunity Camp’s Privacy Policy.
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITY:
- Attend the Hockey Staff Orientation to review: the Dry Land program, job responsibilities, camp policies and emergency procedures.
- Assist with Sunday camper registration.
- The Dry Land instructor will be required to work Monday-Friday 8:20am-5:00pm with breaks in between.
- Assist the two youngest groups with tying skates. (Canadiens / Leafs).
- Attend a Hockey Staff meeting every Thursday night at camp at 10:00pm, followed by a General Staff meeting with the rest of the camp staff.
- At meals assist with dining room supervision by sitting at the head of a table.
- Schedule with the Hockey Director time off.
- Ensure the Hockey Staff cabin is kept clean and orderly
- Share in the daily / weekly cleaning routines before inspection
- Other duties as assigned.
